This buff Soccer player is much more manly than the earlier one I painted! He's got some guns and shapely calves, too! Another fabulous nutcracker shared with me by another, and he has been a joy to paint! I start the painting with a crosshatch texture of gesso to prime the panel. Next comes the painting of the masses by blocking in the central colors. By using a dry brush technique, I am able to layer additional paint on top of the texture, adding much to the depth of each mass. I'm having so much fun, I think I'll start another! Painting number 1429 in 1429 days.
